For the author David Clement-Davies' IndieGoGo project 'Dragon in the Post' and you can read the preview of David's book on Wattpad (I've put all the links at the bottom of this description...wish I knew how to put Hyperlinks in DeviantArt haha!)
Boy oh boy. Did this take longer than I thought! Mainly because this was my first proper dragon painting (I know! A fantasy lover who has never painted a dragon. Don't get me wrong, I've sketched a lot, but to take it to a final painting...) and I had a lot to learn. Mainly the anatomy, the perspective and the scales. I'm sure I've made mistakes on all three, but that's how one learns isn't it. But that Vortex/Fire-window-thing! Jez-Louise! I couldn't decide if I should make it look like magical smoke, electrical clouds, galaxies and nebulas! It took forever to get something that looked alright. In the end I looked at 's 'Brush Blending Tutorial' and went with the fire (so a thumbs up for her)
Despite all that I'm quite pleased, and the landscape was a nice warm-up at the beginning.
